Our sixteenth annual retro holiday celebration was held at the former family home of architect Robert Hausner (built in 1954). It was featured in Chicago Bauhaus and Beyond’s Rizolli book, Julius Shulman: Chicago Mid-Century Modernism (starting on page 77). Sited on the bank of the Des Plaines river in Riverwoods, the home exudes serenity in its Asian/modern simplicity. The home, when photographed, was owned by Ann (Ann Nathan Gallery) and Walter Nathan.
CBB members had a great time seeing the home, meeting and visiting with its current owners, Kate & Mike, and sharing holiday cheer with other guests. Members brought delicious appetizers, entrees and desserts, and our bartender did a wonderful job as always keeping people from getting too thirsty.
